MAKUND KRISHNA

The Police Federation of England Wales is the staff association that represents the serving police offices below Chief Inspector rank around 150'000 members. It negotiates pay, conditions and welfare a full trade union it cannot strike or take industrial action.

Makund Krishna was the first Chief Executive created in 2023 because the Federation want to 'professionalise'. This was after the previous Chair of the Federation, Mr John Apter a former PC was suspended in 2021 for sexual touching following the complaints from 2 women. While the CPS did launch an investigation no charges were brought. However, in 2024 an Employment Tribunal found Mr Apter had committed Gross Misconduct for a creepy comment directed at a widow of a murdered police officer which the tribunal called "sexualised and grossly inappropriate" while she was collecting her husband's post-humous medal.

Makund Krishna's role as first CEO was to run daily operations and lead professionalisation efforts oversee budgets staff and governance and negotiate pay for officers and lecture MPs on officers pay and moral, until yesterdays fraud arrest.

In January 2026 the High Court ruled against him for unlawfully suspending two 'Reps' (i.e. elected officers) rights over race related comments leading to resignation calls. But no criminal probes were instigated. But the real outrage was his pay. Makund Krishna brought in from tax payers £701'100 per year! While officers allegedly scraped by.

  • Makund Krishna's base salary was £342'000 (IFO)

  • Retention payment: £342'000

  • Pension: £17'100.
